Immersive Horizons:
A Journey across Catalan Digital creativity

Immersive Horizons: a journey across Catalan digital creativity is a 17-minute immersive experience that brings together the most creative Catalan projects of the moment with great international potential. This piece explores the intersection between art, technology and digital culture and has been curated by the MIRA Festival team.

The 10 selected companies are: Blit,  BOL, Desilence, Eyesberg, Hamill Industries, Nomada Studio, Onionlab, Six N. Five, Tigrelab and VPM. The proposal aims to highlight and promote the talented artists and studios within the vibrant Catalan creative community. These projects explore a wide range of topics approaching current issues that impact our society and encompass a variety of contemporary artistic formats and expressions, including architecture, audiovisual and light installations, graphic design, video games, sculpture, performance and music.

This is a project of the Ministry for Culture, through the General Directorate of Innovation and Digital Culture and the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC), and has been shown for the first time at the 20th edition of the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE),  the world’s leading audiovisual and systems integration exhibition, taking place from January 30th to February 2nd 2024.

Blit

Data-ism

They define themselves as the creative studio making lines dance! For eight years they have been bringing visual rhythm to dance floors and beyond, crafting content for brands, events, music and art. Transforming spaces into mesmerising spectacles thanks to a talented team of animators, editors and producers delivering meaningful work for local, national and global clients.

‘Data-ism’ celebrates the fusion of the physical and natural worlds, using environmental data to create immersive animations. It draws attention to the impact of human activities on climate change, deforestation, water shortage and habitat loss. Data-ism connects the theories of Darwin and Turing exploring the visualization of natural world data through computerized algorithms.

BOL

Reel

Full service animation and illustration production company made up of a handpicked roster of international directors and illustrators. The unique strengths and diverse voices of their roster cover a broad spectrum of narratives, styles and techniques, to develop short-form commissioned and original content across all screens and media.

‘Reel’ consists of a collection of outstanding projects from BOL’s roster of talents.

Desilence

Paramnèsic

Tatiana Halbach (Barcelona) and Søren Christensen (Denmark) are the creative force behind Desilence. At the core of Desilence there are the love for painting, the hypnotic motion and a relentless determination to find balance. Since 2005 they have been carefully creating big stage shows, live visuals, visual scenography, musicals, dance performances and installations.

‘Paramnèsic’ is a game, an experiment that starts from writing down dreams and representing them creating a surreal sequence shot, with the help of AI and music from Siriusmo.

Eyesberg

1.5 degrees

Multimedia art studio specialized in the transformation of environments into interactive and immersive artworks. Being the means to reach the viewer, technology plays an essential role in Eyesberg’s identity.

‘1.5 degrees’ is a contemplative art piece inspired by glaciers, crucial elements for the climate balance on our planet.

Hamill
Industries

Surge

Creative studio specialized in blending technology and visual arts. They develop innovation projects based on experimentation and the mixture of techniques to create new formats of visual and experiential communication.

‘Surge’ is an immersive video experience that aims to inspire collective action and raise awareness of our environmental responsibilities. The artwork has been commissioned by the architecture studio Pascuals Design and is on permanent display in the exhibition “Still On Time”.

Nomada
Studio

Neva

Based in Barcelona, ​​Nomada Studio comprises experienced developers and artists outside of the video gaming industry with disciplines in illustration, painting, and graphic design. ‘Gris’ is their debut title as a team, featuring art from noted artist Conrad Roset and the music of Berlinist.

‘Neva’ is the story of Alba and her wolf companion, who embark on an adventure through a world that is rapidly dying. It is a game about love, identity, truth, and courage that includes platforming, puzzles, and combat against monstrous enemies, with a minimal user interface, delicate art, high-quality traditional animation and haunting music.

Onionlab

Climate

Multidisciplinary studio that designs installations, audiovisuals and interactive experiences for institutions that seek to relate to technology, design and art. Specialists in projection mapping, VR and audiovisual content for festivals, exhibitions and music. Based in Barcelona, working worldwide.

‘Climate’ is an immersive audiovisual piece that invites us to reflect on the conflict between two possible antagonistic futures. A utopia where we have managed to stop climate change and where we can live in balance with nature and a dystopian future where environmental disasters become an absolute reality.

Six N.Five

The Circle

Six N. Five is the artistic name of Ezequiel Pini, an award-winning Argentinian designer and digital artist based in Barcelona. Over the last decade, Pini has pioneered the use of 3D to create imaginary, dreamlike worlds with a clean, modern aesthetic.

‘The Circle’ evokes time or, more precisely, the fragments of time that pile up in a vast scenario of unique moments and memories. It is an introspective journey of wonder and imagination through these glimpses of time. The circle represents care, calm and attention to achieve its ultimate perfection. We are a circle, without limits, beginning or end. Infinity, unity, connection, just an expanding circle.

Tigrelab

Dream Wild Play Real

Creative studio focused on developing experiences through powerful content that mixes design, scenography, interactivity and technology. They craft dreamlike experiences that play with light, sound, space and motion.

‘Dream Wild Play Real’ is an immersive project that harnesses the transformative potential of dreams, transcending boundaries between reality and imagination, inviting everyone into a captivating new dimension.

Creative studio focused on audiovisual production. Through experimental research they create shows and unique artistic experiences, based on conceptual design and technological innovation.

We live in a digital era where connections are omnipresent and inevitable. Artificial intelligence has further expanded our ability to connect and communicate, thus the peaceful coexistence between technology and human beings creates a symbiotic relationship.
